When it comes to arranged marriages in India, we’ve often seen that educational qualification is a major criterion for matchmaking. People either login to matrimonial sites or refer to advertisements in newspapers to look for a desired profile. Thanks to these matchmaking sources, we’ve seen so many doctors marrying doctors and engineers going for partners with an engineering background.
Now, matchmaking has been taken to another level with further specifications . A new marriage portal called http://iitiimshaadi.com/ has been created for graduates of Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) who are looking for life partners with similar educational qualifications.
The website, which has been named after the two most premier institutions - IIT and IIM, is a miniature version of mega marriage websites.
"Alumni of such education institutes deservedly desire companionship with similar experiences and expectations. This portal has been envisaged on the tailor-made needs of this segment,” Dr Ajay Gupta, founder of the portal, said.
Gupta decided to start this website in April this year when he realized that highly-qualified people face practical difficulties in searching for a suitable match.
"The normal marriage portals like shaadi.com have millions of profiles loaded and one really needs an advanced search for match making. An important criterion in match making is education. We, therefore, decided to have a platform where people who have educated from premier institutions in any discipline can meet their partners."
He said that the portal had got around 800 registrations so far.
"After checking with the certificates, around 80 profiles have been uploaded. At present this is free of cost but after a few months we will work out a revenue generating model," Gupta added.
This USP of the website is that it offers high search quality to the users with the help of some pre-set filters, like tolerance to late working hours, frequent relocation and even willingness to attend office parties.
The grooms have to be alumni of Indian and International premier institutions in engineering & architecture, medicine, finance, law, MBA, master of social work, master of media Communication, fashion designing and senior government administration.
The eligibility for brides is slightly relaxed as there are very few girls in IITs and IIMs. They have to be an alumni of country-wide reputed graduation institutions, Gupta said.
