Known as the Regional Institute of Technology (RIT) earlier (established 1960), National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur was christened so in the 2002 and offers engineering courses in Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and Production and Industrial Engineering. M. Tech courses offered here include Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The institute also offers Ph. D, Non-Formal B. Sc. Engineering Programs and MCA programs. Admission to NIT Jamshedpur is on the basis of AIEEE.
