National Mathematics Day at NIT Kurukshetra

In the memory of Mathematic genius Srinivasa Ramanujan National Institute of Technology (NIT) Kurukshetra will celebrate National Mathematics Day on December 22, 2015. The celebration is being organized by the Department of Mathematics, NIT Kurukshetra.

 

The event will include an informative and eye-opening lecture on Mathematics by Prof. Paras Ram, Department of Mathematics, NIT, Kurukshetra, which will be followed by a Quiz competition.

 

The proceedings of the celebration will be as follows:

 

 

 

 

December 22 had been declared as the National Mathematics Day in India in 2012. The declaration was made by the then Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh. The Indian mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan was born on 22 December 1887 and died on 26 April 1920. It is in recognition of his contribution to mathematics that the Government of India decided to celebrate Ramanujan's birthday as National Mathematics Day every year and to celebrate 2012 as the National Mathematical Year.
