SIES College of Management Studies, Mumbai (SIESCOMS) had organized a National Healthcare Management Conference titled “Emerging trends and Challenges in Healthcare Industry” on January 11, 2014 at SIESCOMS, Neural campus.
This conference was intended for post graduate students (Pharma and Biotech Management) program.
The focus of this conference was to acquire insights from various domains in healthcare and discuss challenges of the future.
The various dignitaries present at the Inaugural Session were Dr. Surendra Manek, Technical Advisor – Encube Ethicals Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Rituraj Sar, VP & Head, and Learning & Development -Lupin Pharma.
The program was initiated with a welcome address by Dr. Suhas Tambe, the Dean of academics who spoke about IT biotech resistance and described the challenge of antibiotics becoming increasingly ineffective in treatment. Dr. Surendra Manek who gave presidential address discussed various challenges and current scenario of Healthcare Industry in India. Mr Rituraj Sar stressed on understanding concern of patients in healthcare system.
The session proceeds with discussion on various topics related to healthcare and Indian Pharma Scenario. Dignitaries from various organizations put forward their views. Dr. Ravindra Pratap Gupta, Senior Consultant, Healthcare-Pharmaceuticals had briefed upon the challenges and opportunities in Hospital sector. Ms. Arohee Ketkar, Siro Clin Pharma presented the role of project management in clinical trials, Emerging Trends, Challenges and value of Project Management, while Mr.Mukundan Bharathan, GSK gave insights on Effects of DPCO in medicine and various Rules & Regulations in context to Healthcare sector. Dr. S.K. Upathyaya, Oxygen Health updated everyone about new trends in Branding and advised the students to use sensory branding in effective positioning of brand.
The event progressed with a host of paper presentations by students of SIESCOMS and various colleges where churning new ideas were shared on different healthcare themes.
The conference was concluded with Vote of Thanks by Dr. Chitra Ramanan, Chairperson, PGDM (Pharma & Biotech Management) Program.
