MTNL & Welingkar (WeSchool) to Launch Courses in Telecom Management

State-run telecom major Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) and the Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research (WeSchool), Mumbai have inked a deal to train talent specifically for the telecom industry.


The deal with MTNL's Centre for Excellence in Telecom Technology and Management (CETTM) was inked at Welingkar's campus in Mumbai.
The CETTM is known for providing extensive training to corporates, students and the employees of MTNL in:

• telecom switching
• transmission
• wireless communication
• telecom operations and management

The MoU pledges mutual cooperation on developing programmes to develop human resources specifically for telecom management. This is expected to boost the existing talent supply to the rapidly expanding telecom industry.


The MoU will see the launch of two autonomous programmes:

• Post Graduate Programme in Telecom Management (PGPTM) – 11 months
• Certificate Course in Telecom Marketing & Management (CTMM) – 3 months

The technological expertise for the programmes will be provided by CETTM experts while Welingkar will groom them in management skills.

According to Uday Salunkhe, Group Director, Welingkar Education, "the collaboration will definitely bolster human capital development specifically for the telecom industry which requires a cross-functional and high-caliber talent. The upswing in the sector has pushed up the demand for a dexterous workforce adept in cross functionalities spanning over technology and management; the initiative will definitely beef up the talent supply for the sector with industry relevant skills."
