More Engineering Seats, Less Applications

After the completion of the entire application process DTE recorded more than 1,10,000 applications for engineering admissions while the available seats are as many as 1,27,159.
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) notification of lowering the eligibility for engineering courses to 45% marks in grade 12.
Based on the statistics provided by the DTE, roughly 6,000 students have applied under the new eligibility criteria

 In the academic year 2010-11, total available seats for engineering courses in the state were as many as 1,14,268.However 22,000 seats had remained vacant.
