The Admission Supervisory Committee (ASC) was constituted by the Government of Kerala under Section 4 of the Act 19 of 2006 to supervise and guide the process of admission of the students to Unaided Professional Colleges / Institutions.
ASC head, J M James said that entrance exam to get admission to private medical colleges will be conducted on July 21, 2013. The rescheduling of the exam has been scheduled due to a question paper leak when it was organized on May 31, 2013.
The entrance test to fill 35% management quota seats in private medical colleges will be held on July 21 in Ernakulam, Kerala. Of the 1,319 students who applied for the 35 % management quota seat, 917 students appeared for the entrance exam. An irked Kerala Private Medical College Management Association (KPMCMA), in turn, cancelled its May 20 agreement with the government on seat sharing, fees, etc. This will impact students who qualified the National Eligibility and Entrance Test and sought admission in private medical colleges in the general category. A total of 350 seats in eight colleges were reserved for such students as per the agreement.
Sources said that seven candidates had appeared before the committee and alleged leakage of the question paper, besides denial of hall tickets to some applicants, after which ASC cancelled the test conducted on May 31. Sources at ASC said that students who were issued the admit card for entrance test on May 31 will be allowed to write the test.
