The University has revealed an interesting bit of statistics that says that 66.30% of all online applicants were from CBSE board students.
This was followed by 12.50% applicants from the Uttar Pradesh Board and 5.40% applicants from the Haryana Board. Only 4.32% applicants were from the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination’s ISC board.
According to Delhi University officials, the number of non-CBSE students has been going up considerably in the last few years.
“Till last year, almost 85% of the applicants would have been from the CBSE board. This data also shows that more aspirants from cities outside Delhi have applied through the online system,” said a DU official.
Since the university’s online form was priced at R50 as opposed to forms of many other universities that charge R500 or more for each form, a large number of students from all over the country are believed to have filled the form.
According to experts, the total number of forms from the CBSE board may increase after the data of the OMR forms is also collated. It is believed that applicants from Delhi prefer filling forms in person instead of using the online system. The university also gave a break-up of online registrations on the basis of the category under which aspirants have applied.
