The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, Indore (MGM) will open PG admissions in the forensic department from the coming academic session. The Medical Council of India (MCI) has given permission for two PG seats to the college following inspection in January.
Apart from the forensic department, the council has also allowed the college to have three PG seats in its anatomy department, reported a leading daily.
Earlier, the department had just one PG seat. Sources say the council recognition to PG seats in other departments is expected to come subsequently.
In January, a four-member delegation of MCI inspected the infrastructure, faculty and other necessary facilities required for running Post Graduate courses at the college.
The team members met the department heads and later spoke to students about the facilities and standard of education in the college.
In the year 2010, an amount of Rs 17.8 crore was approved by the central government for PG courses in the institute.
The central and state government sanctioned the first installment of around Rs 8.69 crore for developing infrastructure but there was no progress on the front.
