Living the Dream- A Day at Stephen's!

Exploring the North Campus with the sun blazing overhead was a daunting task in itself.

But then a glimpse of St. Stephen’s made it easier, what with the awesome campus and infrastructure!

Rahul Mehra, a 2^nd year Stephanian pursuing Physics honors says, “The best thing about Stephen’s is the kind of people you meet and the kind of opportunities you get here. What sets this college apart is the fact that the societies are very proactive. Debating soc is a rage here.”

Facing Stephen’s stoically, stands the Hindu college. The rivalry between the two, the exact origin of which is not really known, is perhaps one of the most legendary rivalries of DU!

This college has a slightly different admission process than the other colleges of the varsity- it holds interviews. Scary as that might be for the admission-seekers who do manage to clear the cut-off, it is not something bad. It enables the institution to look for something more in the students, to know them better.

For all those looking to get into this college and bunking classes, here comes the big blow. St. Stephen’s is a convent which is known to be rigid with its rules. “Stephen’s is not as strict as it is made out to be, except when it comes to attendance. Also, my advice to the to-be first years is to never, ever miss the assemblies”, says Rahul. And the addas? “Hanging out in the Chapel lawns is always fun. Oh! And never call the cafeteria in Stephen’s a ‘canteen’!” What’s more? The faculty here is great! The teachers build up a personal rapport with the students, engage them and are supporting. So much so, that you would not want to miss a lecture.  And it is a college overflowing with talent.

Finally, does he have something to say to those seeking admission here? “Stay relaxed during the interviews, strike up a conversation and hope that they like you!”
