Hurry! Last Date to Apply for PhD at Calcutta University is August 16, 2016

University of Calcutta has started inviting applications from students seeking admission in Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics for the academic session 2022-17.

The Calcutta University admission process 2022 is underway and candidates will be allowed to apply for PhD in Economics latest by August 16.

Calcutta University PhD Admission Eligibility Criteria

Applicants ought to have a Master’s degree in Economics from a recognized University/Institute.

Also, the candidate either has to have NET/SET/MPhil or should qualify in Research Entrance Test (RET), which will be conducted by the University to test applicants’ ability.

Those who have done MPhil in Economics and have Master’s degree will be exempted from appearing in the Calcutta University PhD entrance examination.

• Attach filled application form along with Xerox of required documents and application fee

Calcutta University RET Exam Pattern

The research entrance test will be 11/2 hour paper wherein applicant needs to attempt 40 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) carrying 2 marks each.

The RET questions will comprise of Economic Theory, Quantitative Economics and Contemporary Global and Indian Economic Problems.

The list of finally shortlisted candidates will be posted on the Departmental Notice Board and on the University website.

Calcutta University Selection Procedure for PhD in Economics

The selection will be done on the basis of the Research Entrance Test (RET) followed by an interview.

Candidates who will qualify in both will be eligible to get admission in PhD in Economics at Calcutta University.
