Large number of students drawing towards Law as a career

Law as a career option is drawing students in large numbers, and rightly so. The profession has seen a paradigm shift; crisp business suits have replaced black robes and fancy corporate offices have filled in for dull courtrooms. This field has witnessed the rise of an array of opportunities in the area of law.

Great demand in the government as well as the corporate arena has further elevated the position that Law as a career has enjoyed over the years. In order to understand the future possibilities for a law graduate, it is important to note that law is not one subject but a combination of various social sciences and jurisprudence. The reason for the unlimited options available for a law graduate is the fact that law is not restrictive in its approach, as it requires an extensive understanding of society, politics and economics. 

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) witnesses about 25000 to 30000 aspirants for approximately 2000 seats as opposed to lakhs who sit for relatively few engineering or medical seats. CLAT is an all India entrance exam conducted by 14 national law schools/universities on a rotational basis. Apart from these prestigious universities, there are some other institutes too that accept CLAT scores for admission to their under-graduate/post -graduate programmes.
