“Studying in Delhi University is a dream for many students who come from various parts of the country. We felt that many outstation students had a hard time getting used to the culture and ways of Delhi. This club was formed to serve such students who needed help going around the city,” says Surbhi Sehgal, one of the founding members of the club.

So, what exactly does this website help students with? “It covers every aspect of student life. From accommodation to the best of food joints, from handy information on stationery, grocery and personal healthcare to serious college gyaan on placements and courses, we have it all,” says Shashank, another co-founder.

This club has improved with time. “As we complete a year, we have added on more features. There’s more information on the site now and we also offer discounts through various tie-ups with shops, grocery stores and salons.
The aim is to make it the be-all and end-all of Delhi University,” inform Sidhant Ghai and Smiti Rastogi, both DU students who also handle the marketing of the club.

Talking about the humble beginnings of this club, Ashish Gupta, fondly referred to as  the CEO of Bokaro (he belongs to the place), recounts, “An everyday reality of student life is the constant need for money and we too fell in that category. We were fed up of managing expenses with the limited pocket money we got from home and thought of ways to earn a quick buck, garner some fame and also do something to help the student community. So, while figuring out why we were always short of cash, we came to the conclusion that the prime reason was the constant exploitation of the student community. It was then that  I came up with the idea of DU Jugaad, discussed it with another friend and the website was born. The concept has caught on in a year’s time and we have many happy members. Students walk up to us and thank us for helping them with accommodation etc. The Jugaad family is growing in size and numbers, and it feels great to see your brainchild grow so beautifully.”

How do you get to be a part of it?
Who can be a member?
Any student on campus is eligible to become a member of the club. The club manages to get you discounts at a variety of places, right from eating joints, bookstores, tiffin services to paying guest (PG) accommodation, salons and electronics.

Why be a member?
The club has tied up with many private hostels, also known as PGs, whose details are available on the website. All one needs to do is to check the details and register themselves online free of cost. The website recently tied up with Notehall India and aims to  help the student community with class notes and exam notes of toppers from different colleges at a reasonable fee. The website also acts as an information portal as well as a deal portal. It offers students the option of taking deals at a discount.
