Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has finalised on the dates for Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET). May 1st - 3rd are the decided dates, making this a wave of relief for students aspiring to join professional programs in Karnataka. The dates were finalized at the governing council meeting of KEA conducted on 31st January.
However, even though the dates for CET are declared for both engineering and medical , medical students will have to wait for the final verdict of Supreme Court on the NEET (National Eligibility-Entrance Test) to ensure whether they have to take the CET or otherwise.
As per KEA schedule, the subject paper exams will be held May 1st and 2nd. And the exams for students applying under ‘Gadinadu’ and ‘Horanadu’ categories, Kannada test will be held on May 3rd.
Even after application process and brochure for KEA are already running behind schedule, sources say that KEA will be inviting applications soon. Meanwhile, the final verdict from Supreme Court on NEET is yet to be heard and KEA’s decision may be subject to change in accordance.
The division of seats in private colleges allotted under government quota will also be decided this week. First round of talks between professional private college management representatives and government will be held on February 5 and 6. Fees structure discussions will also be taken up in this meeting.
The pressure on Supreme Court continues to mount as it needs to take a final call on the NEET exam as soon as because all the other exam authorities’ decisions are dependent on the same. Changes at the last moment can affect the students’ results adversely.
