The Research and Publications Committee organised a day long Faculty Development programme (FDP) on the topic, ‘Publishing in ABDC Category journals’ on the 1st of October, 2022 at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore.
Dr Jayasimha K R, professor of Marketing, IIM, Indore, with publications in a portfolio of reputed journals in the ABDC list was the resource person for the FDP. Dr Jayasimha shared the process of ‘laddering’ which is the process by which a faculty could progress towards publishing in the ABDC category journals. The process of laddering involves working on Working paper series, graduating to presenting the studies in conferences, escalating the study into conceptual papers, replication studies and finally to empirical paper in this order.
He shared a number of research papers as examples on how to write for ABDC category journals. How to select journals was elucidated upon with the participants of the FDP being told they must look into the focus of the journal whether it is broad or narrow as well as consider the review time of the journal and consider whether the journal is submission friendly in terms of having an electronic submission interface.
For writing high-quality journals, the researcher must include the rationale for the research study, express explicitly how the paper intends to contribute to the body of knowledge, explain why the methodology chosen is appropriate for the study, elucidate on the contribution and implication for practice.
