IIT council has turned down CBSE’s proposal of conducting two main JEE examinations next year.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had proposed to conduct JEE Main twice in the year 2014 – the first one in February and the other in April, reports a leading daily.
However, the members of the council agreed that two exams would clash with board exams in February, which would only increase stress among students.
Meanwhile, the Joint Admission Board (JAB) of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) has decided to continue with the paper-pencil format for JEE (Advanced) 2014.
Previously, JAB had planned that the pattern of JEE Advanced will be changed from pen-paper to computer-based.
However, it has now been decided that JEE Advanced will be conducted in paper-pencil format.
In 2013, JEE Advanced exam had been conducted in both pen-pencil and computer-based format.
While the JEE (Mains) is likely to be held on April 6, JEE (Advanced) exam is likely to be conducted on May 25. It has been decided that JEE 2014 will be conducted by IIT Kharagpur.
