As per the results of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2015 published by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday April 27, 2015 a student from Pune named Sankalp Gaur has topped this year’s coveted engineering entrance examination with an impressive score 345 out of 360.
The cut-off score to attain eligibility for JEE (Advanced) to secure admission to the eminent IITs, NITs, ISM Dhanbad, etc. is 105 out of 360 this year for students in general category, down from last year's 115. The cut-off in OBC category is 70 and for SC and ST it is 50 and 44 respectively.
Nearly 700 students from Pune are within the 1.5 lakh students who have qualified from all over the country for the JEE (Advanced) 2015 exam to be held on May 24, 2015.
Gaur also stood second in the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) and has also been selected for the upcoming International Physics Olympiad Camp.
JEE (Main) 2015 paper-based exam was conducted on April 4, 2015 in two parts- Paper 1 for B. Tech/B.E admission and Paper 2 for B. Arch/ B. Planning admission.
A total of 90 Multiple-Choice-Questions (MCQs) were asked, 30 in each subject- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each question carried 4 marks with negative marking of -1 (25%) for every wrong answer. The exam carried a total of 360 marks.
The JEE Main All India Rank will be released by CBSE on July 5, 2015. The All India Rank of each student is calculated on the basis of the student's performance in the JEE Main and his/her performance in board exams.
