The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) will undergo another change in the year 2015.
According to sources, the Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry has decided that the existing two-tier Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) will be merged next year.
This means that all central government-funded engineering schools, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), will select students through a common entrance examination in 2015.
According to the government decision, all engineering colleges, including the IITs, will have to conduct common counselling for students in 2014.
The IITs across India have been informed about the ministry’s ruling.
All central government-funded technical schools, including the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), choose students basis their JEE (Main) scores. On the other hand, students seeking admission in IITs need to crack the JEE-Advanced examination.
