IIT Bombay has recently announced that the four new Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) will begin admitting students from the academic year 2015-16.

IIT Bombay, which is supervising the centralized admission process for all IITs for the academic year 2015-16, has confirmed that the centralized counselling this year will be conducted for 16 existing IITs and ISM Dhanbad (to be converted into an IIT) along with the 4 new IITs set up in Chhattisgarh, Palghat, Tirupati and Goa.

Last year, more than 9,800 seats across 16 IITs were available for admission. This year, with the new IITs and the conversion of Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad into an IIT, the number of seats will be close to 11,000, officials at IIT Bombay said.

The Joint Admission Board (JAB) which will be conducting JEE Advanced-2015 for admissions to all the IITs, have also changed a few important dates that were announced earlier.

The latest brochure of JEE Advanced 2015 (version 3) as released by Joint Admission Board (JAB) reflects some major changes including editorial corrections, modifications and additions. One of the important components of the revised brochure is the inclusion of four more IITs offering admissions to the qualifying candidates of JEE Advanced.

Last year, JEE Advanced was conducted for admissions to a total of 16 IITs and ISM Dhanbad to vie for nearly 10,000 seats. After the latest development made by JAB, the total number of seats may go up to 11,000 for admissions to academic year 2015-16.
