Interning and Learning at Start ups!

Internships are meant to give the students, their first sneak peak of the industry. It is the opportune time for to-be graduates/post graduates to explore and experiment in the galore of work life. This little time well spent, prepares the students to make some of the most crucial career decisions.

The latest trend observed is the openness and the inclination among the students to choose start-ups for their summer internships during graduation or post graduation. There are many perks of joining a start-up in the very beginning as it provides an up close and much personal experience of working in the industry than in a big organization.

Some of the pros of interning with a start-up are:

•  Learn a companies working: You get a chance to play multiple roles in a start-up which exposes you to all the departments, processes.
• Skill Enhancement: Such exposure also helps in expanding the skill set.
• Something worthy to do: In a start up you get the opportunity to do some hard core work which is more engaging than a project.
• Better Networking: You’d rather work with the founders/owners of a company and get personal mentoring than get lost in a big organization with multiple layers of hierarchy.
• Better now than later: It is rather more feasible to intern with a start up, as the purpose of interning is to learn as much as possible and to prep up for the job market. Money is not the concern for such limited period of time.
