Eligibility
Candidates seeking IIT Madras M.Tech admission must qualify the GATE 2022. Candidates without a GATE score must hold a Master’s degree in Physics/ Mathematics/ Chemistry/ Life Sciences from UGC/ govt-approved institutions or a B. Tech degree from an IIT. In addition, they must have a CGPA of 8.0 and above for general and OBC categories and 7.5 and above SC/ST. Candidates who have appeared or are yet to appear in the final exam for master’s in science or B. Tech can also seek admission. Eligible candidates also include those sponsored by DST-recognised organisations as R&D units, candidates sponsored by AICTE/ UGC/ govt and PSU/govt institutions, and candidates sponsored by NIOT. Defence-sponsored, QIP, and UOP candidates of institutions as per MoU with IIT Madras are also eligible.
How to Apply
Online applications for IIT Madras M.Tech admission close on April 15, 2022. Candidates must register with the official website and enter their GATE registration number. An application fee of INR 400 must be paid (INR 200 for SC/ST/PD and female candidates) on the website. Scanned copies of required documents to be attached should be of .jpg format with a minimum size of 10KB and a maximum of 80KB. Photographs should have a width and height of 30mm x 45mm. Copies of the signature should have a width and height of 80mm x 35mm.
To avail benefits, PwD candidates with at least 40% permanent physical impairment must upload a certificate of disability from an authorised medical board attached to a government hospital/ Special Employment Exchange for Physically Handicapped/ VRC for physically handicapped individuals.

Students seeking IIT Madras M. Tech admission must submit the following documents along with duly filled application forms –
• Birth certificate/nationality certificate/passport for proof of DOB
• Applicable SC/ST certificate
• Applicable OBC-NCL certificate
• Applicable PD certificate
• Copies of mark/grade sheet of qualifying degree
• Candidates graduating in 2022 and B. Tech candidates of IITs must provide a copy of their latest CGPA statement from the respective IT
• Candidates with ZE/ZS disciplines must provide a list of courses/syllabus
Non-GATE-qualified Indian candidates seeking IIT Madras M.Tech admission may be required to take a Suitability Test/interview and will be required to appear for the same at the office of the HOD on April 29, 2022, at 8.30 am.
Seats
Offers for HTTA and N-HTTA seats may be sent by May 19, 2022. Candidates who accept must initiate payment of institute fees online by the stipulated date. Second and third set of offers for HTTA and N-HTTA seats will be based on the availability of seats. Depending on availability of vacant seats, another round of offers will be made on July 25, 2022, and candidates who were unable to secure admission in the first few rounds will be considered in this case.
Joining Date
IIT B. Tech graduates and GATE-qualified candidates who have accepted the IIT Madras M.Tech admission offer need to produce a certificate of completion of the qualifying examination. They must join the institute on July 24, 2022, in the forenoon, failing which the admission offer may be cancelled. Sponsored candidates must report to the institute on July 24, 2022, in the afternoon.

IIT Madras 2022 GATE Cutoff
Candidates who will make the GATE cutoff are eligible to apply for IIT Madras M. Tech Admission. The results for the 2022 GATE cutoff has been declared on March 26, 2022. Candidates can check the 2022 cutoffs to help determine the minimum score needed.

Fee Structure
Candidates who have accepted IIT Madras M. Tech admission offer must pay an initial fee of INR 18600 (Gen/OBC) or INR 13600 (SC/ST). A one-time payment of INR 2750, semester fees of INR 13850, hostel and mess fees of INR 23750, and refundable deposits of INR 2000 make up the fee structure.
