Eligibility for IIT Kharagpur M.Tech Admission
Candidates seeking IIT Kharagpur M.Tech Admissions must have a bachelor’s degree in technology/ engineering/ architecture or a master’s degree in science and valid GATE score with marks above the cut-off.
However, 2022 Graduating IIT B.Tech students or 2022 IIT B.Tech graduates with CGPA 8.0 or above may receive IIT Kharagpur M.Tech Admissions without GATE score but will have to adhere to the formal admission process. Graduating students of 2022 must produce certificates and grade/ mark sheets of the final qualifying degree latest by 31st October 2022. Candidates seeking admission under sponsored category will need to apply separately. Details are available on the official website.
Note: Degrees awarded based on aggregate marks of all years of qualifying degree or final year or last two semesters of the final qualifying degree must meet the minimum of –
• 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA for gen/OBC candidates
• 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PD candidates
How to Apply
Candidates for IIT Kharagpur M.Tech Admissions must register with the official website and duly fill out the application form. An application fee of INR 500 for gen/OBC/male/transgender and INR 250 for female/SC/ST/PD candidates must be paid online. The fee is non-refundable.
The application form must be submitted online only along with:
- Applicable SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PD certificate
- Proof of having taken mathematics at +2 or degree level
- Passport size photo
- Certificate of qualifying degree
- Candidate signature
Selection
Selection for IIT Kharagpur M.Tech Admissions is based on GATE score OR combined GATE score of 70% weightage and personal interview of 30% weightage.
Fee Structure
Accepting candidates who have been offered IIT Kharagpur M.Tech Admissions must pay a fee of INR 30365 (gen/OBC/PD) or INR 20365 (SC/ST). Students will have to pay INR 25100 semester fee (inclusive of hostel overhead, hostel establishment, and mess advance) each semester as well.
Assistantship
Candidates who have been accepted for IIT Kharagpur M.Tech Admissions in the M. Tech/MCP programme will receive an assistantship of INR 12400 p.m. Candidates selected for PhD will receive an assistantship of INR 16400 pm in the 2nd year of M. Tech/MCP and INR 25000 pm after enrolling for PhD.
