The newly established IIT Hyderabad joins the list of Indian Institutes of Technology set up by the HRD Ministry. It has 10 engineering departments in addition to science and liberal arts departments. The institute was ranked seventh in the HRD Ministry’s National Institutional Ranking Framework. Students who want to apply for IIT Hyderabad M.Tech Admission should be aware of the eligibility criteria as well as the admission procedure, selection, fee structure, and other necessary details. IIT Hyderabad M.Tech Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for IIT Hyderabad M. Tech Admission need to have a bachelor’s degree in technology/ engineering/ architecture or a master’s degree in life sciences/ chemistry/ mathematics/ physics from government-approved institutions. They also need to have a valid GATE score. IIT graduates who have a B.Tech degree can also apply without a GATE score. They should have a CGPA of 8.0 or 7.5 for SC/ST.

IIT Hyderabad also offers sponsored 2-year and 3-year programmes in Industry-sponsored or research labs. Candidates working in national research labs and private/public sector companies with a minimum of 2 years work experience are eligible to apply. College teachers with 2 years teaching experience in a recognised higher educational/ technical institute can also apply to this sponsored programme. Selection is based on a written test/ interview. Candidates need not have a valid GATE score although it is preferred.

How to Apply for IIT Hyderabad M.Tech programme

  • Students can fill the application form for M.Tech 2022 admissions from the 2nd week of April to the 1st week of May.
  • There are different application procedures for GATE and IIT candidates. Aspirants applying for IIT Hyderabad M.Tech Admission need to register with the official website and fill the necessary application form. They must save and submit the form and take a print of it afterwards. Applicants who want to apply to several departments have to fill separate applications and pay separate application fees.
  • IIT graduates need to download the application form and fill it. Fees are paid through SBI-Collect and payees receive a reference document from the bank. The must mail the document along with the completed application form to mtech_iit_graduates@iith.ac.in and mention the name of the department to which they are applying in the “Subject” field.
  • The application fee is INR 300 for male candidates in the general/ OBC categories and INR 150 for female candidates and males in the SC/ ST/ PD categories.

IIT Hyderabad M.Tech Admission Procedure

IIT Hyderabad M.Tech Admission can be for 2-year and 3-year degree courses (with an assistantship) where the latter has a greater research component. Admission to the 2-year programme is based on GATE score. Candidates may need to sit for a written test or undergo a personal interview. IIT graduates having a CGPA of 8.0 and/or above can apply for the programme directly without a GATE score. IIT Hyderabad M.Tech Admission to the 3-year programme is based on GATE score and an interview. Selected applicants are eligible for a monthly stipend for maximum 3 years. They will have to provide technical assistance/ research of up to 20 hours each week.

IIT Hyderabad M.Tech Financial Assistance

IIT Hyderabad offers HTTA of INR 8000 p.m., which is tenable for a maximum of 24 months, subject to rules. Students receiving HTTA will have to aid the department for 8 hours every week in academic activities like seminars, quizzes, research projects, etc.

IIT Hyderabad M.Tech Fee Structure

As per the fee structure for 2022-2022, 1st-year regular students need to pay a total of INR 45675 (general/OBC) or INR 40675 (SC/ST/PH) for the 1st semester. They need to pay INR 35875 (general/ OBC) or INR 30875 (SC/ST/PH) from the second semester onwards. Meanwhile, 1st year sponsored students need to pay a total of INR 64675 for the 1st semester and INR 55875 from the second semester onwards.
