Google has been investing a lot of money on its Research and Development section. Infact, it has also been encouraging bright students who would represent researchers of the future by offering various types of fellowships, scholarships, internships and other opportunities. The Google PhD Fellowship program is one such initiative of Google, wherein every year it provides fellowship to students globally, covering Europe, China, Australia, US, Canada and India. Google Research Blog says, "The Google India PhD Fellowship Program has been created to support and ecognize outstanding students pursuing or looking to pursue PhD level studies in Computer Science and related areas."
It has been 5 years since the start of this fellowship program and this year Google offered this fellowship to 39 students from all around the globe, including 5 from India. One of the selected fellows is Rajvi Shah of IIIT-Hyderabad.
Here are a few excerpts from a candid conversation with Rajvi.
How did you come to know about this fellowship programme?
I was already aware of the Google PhD fellowship. For this year, they made the announcement on the Google Research page. Apart from that, a notification email was also sent on IIIT-H's research mailing list.
