IIFT Exam Pattern 2018 of MBA (IB)

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has provided the IIFT MBA (IB) entrance exam pattern 2022 along with the exam notification. Like every year, only a few minor details of the IIFT exam pattern 2022 have been revealed officially by the Institute. Details such as number of questions and their marking have been unrevealed this year too. There is no fixed exam pattern or syllabus for the IIFT MBA entrance exam. However, the IIFT 2022 entrance exam is expected to have around 123 or 124 questions having differential marking like that of last year.

As per the official IIFT MBA entrance exam pattern 2022, the exam will be held in offline mode, where multiple choice questions will be asked. 120 minutes will be given to the exam takers for is the duration of the exam. IIFT Exam Pattern 2022

Exam pattern provides details of the exam such as number of questions to be asked, details of sections/topics from which the questions will be asked, type of questions, mode of exam, duration etc. Candidates writing IIFT MBA (IB) entrance test this year must ensure that they have a clear understanding of the IIFT test pattern 2022 as it will help them in having an effective exam preparation.

1.  IIFT MBA entrance test is a paper-pen exam, where candidates will have to mark their answers in an OMR sheet.

2.  Medium of the exam will be English only.

3.  Only objective type questions will be asked in IIFT exam 2022.

4.  Number of questions is not revealed by the Institute before the conduct of exam. However, 123 to 125 questions are expected to be asked in the exam.

5.  Questions will be asked from English Grammar, Vocabulary and Comprehension, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation and Quantitative Analysis.

IIFT Exam Pattern 2022 – Marking Scheme

How the questions are marked in the exam is also important to know for an exam taker. Having an idea about the IIFT marking scheme 2022 beforehand will help the candidates in preparing their exam taking strategy. They will be able to know how many questions they need to mark correctly in order to qualify IIFT MBA entrance exam 2022 and clear the IIFT cutoff 2022.

The marking scheme of IIFT exam is not revealed before the conduct of exam. However, differential marking scheme is adopted for this entrance exam.

  • 123 – 125 MCQs are expected to be asked in the exam.
  • Marking of these questions may vary from each other and from one section to other.
  • Each question will carry marks ranging from 0.5 to 1 mark.. 
  • Penalty of 1/3rd of the allotted mark to the question is applicable for marking an incorrect answer.
  • Marking more than one answer for a question will be treated as an incorrect answer.

  • Majority of the students find this section a bit difficult compared to others.
  • It involves questions requiring typical mathematical calculation. To solve quant questions easily, candidates should know a few shortcuts and tricks to do quick oral calculations.  
  • Questions in this section are asked from topics like Number system, Co-ordinate Geometry, Triangles, Spheres, Alligation& Mixtures, Simple Interest & Compound Interest, Partnership, Maxima & Minima Progression, Median, Mode, Time-Speed-Distance, Profit & Loss, Work and time, Clocks, Mensuration, Algebra, HCF, LCM, etc.

Reading Comprehension & Verbal Ability
  • Reading comprehension we all have been doing since school. Only thing different is the level of the comprehension in IIFT exam is a bit high.
  • Also, this section aims at checking English grammar and vocabulary of the exam takers.
  • Topics from which questions are asked in this section are Analogies, idioms, mania & phobia, Syllogisms, Errors in word choice, Conditionals & Multiple Usage, Phrasal verb, Fill In the Blanks, Verbal Reasoning, Antonyms, one word substitution, odd one out, Punctuation, Contextual usage, Jumbled paragraphs with 4 or 5 sentences, Comprehension of passage, Foreign language words used in English, etc.

Logical Reasoning
  • The questions from this section hide in them a logic, which the candidates are required to unveil in the shortest span of time.
  • Common topics from this section are Statements and Conclusions, Identifying Probably true, Matrix arrangements, identifying valid inferences , Probably false, Assumption-Premise-Conclusion, identifying Strong arguments and Weak arguments, Symbol Based problems, definitely false kind of statement, Family tree problem, Linear arrangements, Sequencing, Critical reasoning, Statements and assumptions, Visual reasoning, Assertion and reasons, etc.

General Awareness
  • GK does not always involve cramming the newspapers or pratiyogita darpan. However, this section just aims at checking the basic awareness of the exam takers.
  • This section in the IIFT MBA entrance exam is the most unpredictable section and just like quant, students face issues in attempting this section.
  • Candidates must befriend newspaper and must keep a track of day to day developments in politics, economy, sports etc.
  • Questions are asked on country, capital, currency, authors, books, business, films, advertising, geography, history and static questions of past 6 year IIFT question papers.

To get accustom to the IIFT MBA IB 2022 exam pattern, the candidates must solve IIFT sample papers.
