IGNOU to Partner With US Community Colleges

The Indira Gandhi National Open University's (IGNOU) community college initiative is finalising a partnership with the US community college system, an official said Sunday.


Consisting of modular level education, hands-on training and work integrated learning, the community college scheme has picked up with the participation of diverse grassroots level organisations, both in the country's private and public domains, the varsity said.


"Government departments like IT, rural development and also the Indian Army have collaborated with us in this nationwide skill development initiative," IGNOU Vice Chancellor V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai said.
"It has led to certification of employable skills and the enhancement of livelihood opportunities of the underprivileged sections of the society," he added.
