Delhi-based Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched four new courses from the next academic session. This includes a Master’s in Social Work (counselling). Candidates willing to apply for this two-year programme are required to have a bachelor’s degree or a higher degree from a recognised university that will be offered in both January and July cycle of admissions. The fee is Rs 30,000 for the full programme that needs to be paid year wise at Rs 15,000 per year.
The university has also launched a post graduate diploma in Urban Planning and Development for graduates from any discipline. This one-year course will be offered in both the January and July cycle of admissions. The fee is Rs 2,800. The university has also introduced a unique course for special educators called the postgraduate certificate in information and assistive technology for the instructors of visually impaired.
The eligibility is a bachelor’s degree in computer science from a recognised university (BCA/BSc-computer science) or a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university with diploma/certificate in computer science or a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university subject to the condition that the certificate will be awarded only after a candidate successfully completes the CIT programme from IGNOU.
The minimum duration of the programme is six months and maximum is two years. The fee is Rs 5,000. Another new course is the postgraduate certificate in Geoinformatics for which aspirants must have graduation in any discipline from a recognised university with science at the higher secondary level. The minimum duration of the course is six months and fee is Rs 9,500 for the full programme.
