SPJIMR's Global Management Programme – GMP (formerly known as PGCIM), started in the year 2010. It is a unique programme where students spend the first six months full-time at SPJIMR, Mumbai. The credits acquired from the GMP are accepted by any of the four reputed partner schools in Europe (with which SPJIMR has partnership) towards completion of a Master’s programme in Management (MBA or M.Sc in Management). The second leg of the programme can go up to a period of 6 to 18 months.

“The students of GMP have the best of both the worlds, the deep educational background of India and the exposure of the latest developments of Europe. The programme also enables the students from India to be ambassadors to the international firms who seek to expand their operations to India,” says Abhilash Subramanian Chelekara, student at GMP-2022 (SPJIMR), International Business 2022 (ESB Business School, Reutlingen University).

“This is a very extensive course where students cover 32 subjects in 7 months and another set of subjects in Europe. The stakes in the programme are high, due to which even the rewards are. Not only are the students willing to let go of their comfort zone, but are also willing to adapt to a new culture which is very different from ours. So far, the efforts have paid off as all the students of the programme have landed jobs with some of the prestigious firms like Amazon, BASF, Mercedes and also have held respectable position in ventures like Rocket Internet and Gerry Weber. During our course in SPJIMR, we also build in ourselves the ability to work with different groups during our 32 group works and also get the chance to learn foreign languages, which is a part of the curriculum,” he says.

Piyush Kumar Agarwal, who has just completed the GMP and has started the second phase at EBS Business School, Oestrich Winkel, Germany, adds a specific example of how his GMP sessions have moulded his thought process. “Prof. Parameshwaran, who taught us International Finance, taught us how every single event in any corner of the globe has its impact throughout the world. We discussed how the fluctuations of Japanese Yen would affect even the local manufacturers in Mumbai. Therefore, when the world is twined together, an MBA that gives an international exposure indeed adds additional value to one’s resume.”
