How to Prepare for NIPER JEE 2012

Concentrate on the Pharmacy subjects more. There are some coaching centres providing training services for NIPER JEE these days. There various online websites too that provides course material, study papers, mock tests and online competition fair (OCF) free of cost. Also solve a lot of sample tests. Not only will it get you used to the question format, but also help in your timing.

Here’s how you should prepare for NIPER JEE 2012

Chemistry

Focus on basic organic Chemistry and Biochemistry with emphasis on Stereochemistry, named reactions, basic methods of synthesis of various organic compounds. Be prepared to answer questions on stereochemistry – concepts, structures of isomers etc. Read Samuel, Bahl & Bahl and Morrison Boyd.

Pharmacology

Emphasize on receptors, receptor characterization, mechanism of actions, classification of drugs, overview of clinical trials, preclinical trials and the typical, specific and adverse effect of drugs. Read Rang and Dale.

Biochemistry & Biotechnology

Read up, in detail all about classification and mechanism of action of enzymes. Also study the blotting techniques, Gel Electrophoresis, Gene cloning, Immunoassays, protein, RNA, DNA synthesis and rDNA technology. Read U. Satyanarayana

Pharmaceutical Analysis

You should be thorough with all the spectroscopy and chromatographic techniques like UV-Visible, NMR, IR, Mass, XRD, Fluorimetry, HPLC, GC, LCMS and interpretation of IR and NMR peaks. Also ensure that you are thorough with the principles involved with techniques and names of drugs. Read YR Sharma & Chatwal

Other Questions

You should in general know the latest news in the pharma world, esp the recent drug molecules approved by USFDA and names of important scientists with important discoveries or inventions.  You should also know simple maths, logical questions, questions based on English language.

Make sure you unwind every now and then. Keep your cool and revise repeatedly and the NIPER JEE should be a cakewalk for you!
