1.  Stay motivated- IIT-JEE is one of the most competitive exam in the country. You need to be prepared for it both physically & mentally. Stay positive & stay motivated. Believe in yourself!

2.  Start Early- Since 2005, IIT-JEE’s syllabus has been strictly from your class 11th & 12th NCERT textbooks. This means that ideally, you should start preparing right after your class 10th board exams. Two years are enough to be completely prepared for IIT-JEE. You should ideally not start your IIT-JEE preparations before finishing your class 10th.

3.  Clear Concepts- Your focus should initially be completely on your NCERT textbooks. If you sit back & analyse the IIT-JEE question papers of the last 5 years, you’d realise that most of the questions are of the NCERT level.

4.  Revise- Never under-estimate the power of repetition & revision. Go over your concepts again & again & AGAIN. Do not move forward to the next level till you are completely thorough with all the basic concepts discussed in your NCERT textbooks.

5.  Pick up the Right Books- Take up these books ONLY after you are done with your NCERT text-books:
Physics: HC Verma (considered to be the Bible for Physics) This book comes with solutions as well which are fairly explanatory.
Chemistry: Dr.O.P. Agrawal & RC Mukherjee Physical Chemistry
Mathematics
K.C.Sinha Algebra & Calculus & Probability (try solving all the questions at the back of this book)
S.L.Loney Trigonometry & Co-ordinates (Must solve its 206 miscellaneous sums)

(Disclaimer: There might be other, better books in the market. You are free to add to this list at the bottom of this article!)

6.  Group Study- As long AS your “study-group” involves committed & focused friends who are as serious about cracking IIT-JEE 2012 as you, group-studying is a great idea. Some of you might prefer to study alone shut away from the rest of the world, but it’s a good idea to keep rating yourself against others and thus figuring out where you stand. In your group, it is good to have a healthy competition going always. This will keep you motivated & would also keep you from getting bored during your preparations. Various studies have proved that studying in groups is always better than studying alone. So go out, form a group of your own!

As long as you stay motivated & systematic about your preparation, clearing the IIT-JEE 2012 would be a cakewalk! All the Best!
