B-O-A-R-D-S. Those six letters are enough to scare the hell out of a teenager. Apparently the make-it-or-break-it stage of life, it is like walking on a tight rope and trying to strike the perfect balance.
Here is a very unconventional list of how I endured the Boards:
• Sacrificing Facebook: 1.1.2013. The date when the Board date sheet came out. The date when I deactivated my Facebook account and became virtually extinct from the online world. Now for those of you who aren’t really addicted to Facebook, it may not be a big deal. But for the likes of me who can’t go a day without updating their status and stalking people’s profiles (pun intended), it means giving up on a significant part of their social lives. That said, it gave me a couple of hours more to study. So it was all worth it.
• Pulling all-nighters: Since I am not a morning person, keeping the nocturnal animals and birds company (albeit from a safe distance) comes naturally to me. So at the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world used to doze off, I would gather my books and get lost in the world of UN and nationalist movements.
• Endless bowls of Maggi: Bless the guy who invented the instant noodles. Whenever I would get hunger pangs at an ungodly hour, I would tiptoe to the kitchen and treat myself to a bowl of Maggi, and much to my mom’s delight, without setting the kitchen on fire.
• Grey’s Anatomy and Supernatural: Watching these shows was my stress buster. Whether it was gawking at Sam or crying when George died, I ensured that took my daily dose of these drama series.
