Psychology is usually taught at the 10+2 or equivalent level with other social sciences and statistics. Most universities offer the subject as a Bachelors Honors programme. After graduation you can go for an M.A. or M.Sc in Psychology, Social work or Counseling. Post graduate courses in psychology are offered only to students who have graduated with psychology. Specialisations in the subject can be pursued at the post graduate level or at the doctoral level- M.Phil or Ph.D, after post graduation. At the master's and doctoral level, the subject becomes increasingly specialized. What you take up as your specialisation decides which career path you can follow. For example, sports psychologists should be have an extensive educational background and training in sports, motivation management, performance and athletics.
