About Himachal Pradesh University

The Himachal Pradesh University was founded on July 22, 1970. It is located at Summer Hill which is at a distance of 5 kms from the main town, Shimla. It is accredited by National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) & is UGC recognized Centre for Excellence in Himalayan Studies. It was the first to start distance education in the country.

The Himachal Pradesh (HP) University, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, has invited applications for admission into MD (Doctor of Medicine) / MS (Master of Surgery) / Diploma courses in Allopathy and MDS (Master of Dental Sciences), to be offered in the ensuing session 2012. The courses are being offered at the below mentioned affiliated colleges of the University. Selection is made on the basis of merit in the University’s entrance test, scheduled to be held on the date mentioned:

MD / MS / Diploma Courses (Allopathy) offered at:
Indira Gandhi Government Medical College, Shimla
Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Kangra

MDS offered at:
H.R. Govt. Dental College, Shimla
Himachal Dental College, Sundernagar
Bhojia Dental College, Nalagarh
Himachal Institute of Dental Sciences, Paonta Sahib

Eligibility Criteria

(i) MD/MS(Allopathy): In-service regularly appointed Medical Officers and in -service adhoc/ contractual/ Rogi Kalyan Samities appointees AND for open competition graduates of IGMC, Shimla, Dr. RPGMC Tanda (Kangra), Bonafide Himachalis who have done MBBS from any Institution recognized by MCI and Children of H.P Govt. employees/ employees of Autonomous Bodies wholly or partially financed by H.P. Govt. getting admission to MBBS course through CBSE or any other All India Entrance Examination in MCI / GOI recognized Medical Colleges in India, can apply for this test.

(ii) MDS: In-service regularly appointed (M.O. Dental) and in-service contractual / Rogi Kalyan Samities appointees and for open competition graduates of Dental Colleges located in the Himachal Pradesh, Bonafide Himachalies who have done BDS from any Institute recognized by DCI and Children of H.P. Govt. employees/ employees of autonomous bodies wholly or partially financed by the H.P Govt. getting admission to BDS course through CBSE or any other All India Entrance Examination in DCI/GOI recognized Dental colleges in India, can apply for this test.

How to Apply

Interested candidates may obtain the application form and prospectus from the University Exams Enquiry-cum-Sale Counter, Library Building, (Basement) Summer Hill, Shimla-5 on cash payment of Rs 2000 (including test fee). In addition, one can get the same by sending a request along with a IPOs / Demand Draft of Rs 2100, drawn in favor of the Finance Officer, H.P. University, Shimla. The request, superscripted with the name of the prospectus i.e., MD / MS (Allopathy) or MDS (Dental) should be sent to the Assistant Registrar (Entrance Tests) H.P. University, Summer Hill, Shimla-5, on or before January 3, 2012.
