GYANODAYA – III: An Educational Train Journey by DU

Delhi University is once again taking a batch of 900 students on a journey by its trademark educational train, GYANODAYA EXPRESS.

The third journey, this time to Punjab, flagged off by Shri Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary, Honourable Minister of State for Railways, on September 2, 2013 at 8 am from the special platform at Safdarjung Railway Station, New Delhi.

Among the travellers are 150 students from Edinburgh and London, eager to experience the famous ‘College on Wheels’ where joyful learning is the norm. DU’s student selection includes NCC, NSS, and students with disability, winners of Antardhvani cultural festival, and others. A library and net enabled coaches make the train a study room. With a focus on Punjab’s entrepreneurial spirit, the schedule includes visits to a village and industrial units with export success.

Agricultural enterprise, hard work and business acumen have brought prominence to the region that Gyanodaya students will study in detail. During the period September 2-8, the train will stop at Amritsar, Ludhiana, Chandigarh and Kurukshetra, weaving a narrative of history into the story of India’s modernisation.
