Chandigarh Group of Colleges conducted a guest lecture on September 22, 2013. Lecture on Recent Trends in Nanotechnology and its Applications was delivered by Prof. V.K. Jindal, Department of Physics, Punjab University, Chandigarh.
Lecture was organized by Nano Physics Club of Department of Applied Sciences, CEC Landran.
Nanotechnology is the engineering of functional systems at the molecular scale. This covers both current work and concepts that are more advanced. In its original sense, nanotechnology refers to the projected ability to construct items from the bottom up, using techniques and tools being developed today to make complete, high performance products.
Prof. Jindal shared latest developments and quality research and development updates that would provide an opportunity to review new techniques and horizons regarding nanotechnology. He correlated the recycling behavior of nature with nanotechnology.
He also discussed the wide variety of applications that are present today and will be available for future. He focussed on the ability to functionalize (chemically modify) the sidewalls of CNTs that leads to biomedical applications such as vascular stents, and neuron growth and regeneration.
He also emphasized the pivotal role of nanotechnology in engineering such as quantum computers, nano-chips, nano-robots, and nano-sensors etc. Principal CEC thanked him for sparing his precious time and sharing his knowledge with the students.
