I have heard so many of my seniors and family members talk about the education system it’s horrible, so much pressure, donation, cut through competition and so on. But this was the time that I ACTUALLY felt it and understood what they meant . By not getting into a college just because I belong to the GENERAL category and the no of seats are less and the aspirants are more. The bottle neck competition is something, not getting into your dream college by 1% or .5% does make you feel miserable. Its the demand and supply logic the no of applicants are more than a lakh and the no of seats are less and dont meet the demand.
The reservations are something which is highly debatable issue whether to have or not. I am not totally against them I think philosophy behind it is very much well in place .The marginalised backward sections of the society do need a means to progress and come at par with the larger society. However my only issue is that it should be based on their economic condition rather than the caste. Some casts are economically very well off and have access to all resources still benefit from the reservations”The creamy layer “. The caste groups who are actually deprived are unable to utilise the opportunities. The policy of reservations has been a matter of heated discussion over the past few years amongst all sections of the society. But it’s us the students who are affected the most from it. I really think it’s high time that we need reforms in education and by that I don’t meant the four year. The reservation policy itself needs to be altered to suit the present day circumstances .
