While the cut-offs were the cause of distress and grief for many DU aspirants, there were many who managed to secure a seat in a college of their choice, even if not the dream college. While the second cut-off list has opened up a few gates and choices for many, others are seen trying their luck in ECA trials, or settling for a second preference course.
so, as they started exploring cut-offs and determining where they stand, did they get in to the college of their choice?
Nikita Rana, who has secured admission in the much sought-after college, Hans Raj college for B.com optimistically says, "After having missed SRCC, I thought its all over. But after entering the state-of-the-art campus of Hans Raj College, taking a round around it, famous lover's point or LP, canteen, audi........I was cherished to foresee my next 4 years!!"
While another candidate, Radhika Gupta, who has also applied for B.com is rather disgruntled, "SRCC , LSR are now only dream colleges for many students . Especially for me as after scoring decent I dreamt of LSR but got admission in Indraprastha college for women which is good."
Well, it is indeed disheartening and sour that the soaring cut-offs have forced the students scoring above 95 to give up their dream colleges and get into a college that is ready to welcome them.
Coming over to the admission process, was it onerous, arduous or backbreaking as it is often thought to be?
Here is a hint of optimism. I get mixed responses. Nikita was elated at the systematization, "My presumptions regarding the grueling admission procedures were falsified by wonderful professors who helped us out with every minor detail with a courteous smile." This further adds to the pros of Hans Raj, which has come across as a friendly college, with amiable professors.
So, what was it exactly like?
She adds, "There were seniors with tags "May I Help u?" at the main gate who helped me navigate my way to Commerce Department. There were no such queues rather all the admission seekers were seated in the room no. NR 11. Professors handed over the admission form and all the declarations/affidavits including the anti-ragging one. Fee was deposited by a Demand Draft in the name of college Principal. After the verification of mark sheets and certificates, we were given the acknowledgement slip, thereby confirming the admission."
So, "when you step out to get admission have a pen, photographs, required documents, their photocopies, fees, and your parents along with you" suggests Veenisha Tutlani.
However, the whole procedure becomes tedious and time-consuming, as pointed out by Radhika, "The admission procedure is quite tiring as there are four rounds of verification, all four being very tiresome".
So, all admission-seekers, keep a day aside for your admission !
