Graphic Era University to protest against ragging has introduced its Anti-ragging Committee.
Every year each and every college welcomes new batch to their academic session. Seniors eagerly wait for this moment to welcome their juniors. Fresher’s parties, welcome events are organized by the seniors. But when this kind of celebration leads to the worst of entertainment, it will destruct someone’s study, even life also.
Ragging in India is a damaging form of interaction of the seniors in college or school with the juniors, newcomers or first years.
Ragging has ruined countless innocent lives and careers. In order to eradicate it, Hon’ble Supreme Court in Civil Appeal No. 887 of 2009, passed the judgement wherein guidelines were issued for setting up of a Central Crisis Hotline and Anti-Ragging database.
Keeping it mind Graphic Era University has organized its Anti-ragging Committee. This Committee includes

Students are requested to inform the panel members about any kind of activities related to mental or physical torture.
There is a big question that will this committee able to prevent ragging in near future because most no-ragging college panels are only on paper. The fact that students refuse to complain about being ragged is a major issue. By and large, it was observed that the institutional-level committees meant to tackle ragging in colleges remain only on paper.
Though several colleges and universities claim to have initiated several measures to curb the menace of ragging on and off campuses, serious cases keep cropping up, indicating major lapses in the system.
Around four years ago, the UGC sent out circulars to all schools and colleges about 'zero-tolerance' towards ragging. Guidelines on what amounts to ragging and helpline numbers were shared. The stringent measures initiated by colleges did bring down ragging on campuses, some claimed.
Let’s see how Graphic Era University incorporate with its anti ragging committee to protect students from being dragged out from the University.
