Google Science Fair 2016: Two Indians Among 16 Finalists

Two Indians and four Indian origin teenagers have made it to the sixth annual Google Science Fair 2022 list among 16 global finalists. They will be competing for $50,000 scholarship in the global online science and technology competition.

Fatima, 15, a student from the Sadhu Vaswani International School in Hyderabad has developed a control system to provide automatic water management system that controls operations of the gates at the main reservoir and supply at the field irrigation channels.

Shriank, 15, a student from National Public School, Indiranagar in Bangalore has developed KeepTabthat is a wearable-device using cloud-based deep learning framework to aid human memory recall the location of their day-to-day objects. Shriank has also been the finalist at the FIRST LEGO League World Championship 2012.

The Indian origin American teens that have made it to the list include Anika Cheerla (14), Nishita Belur (13), Anushka Naiknaware (13) and Nikhil Gopal (15).

In addition, Advay Ramesh has been declared as the ‘Community Impact Award Winner’ for developing hand held terminal to enhance safety and productivity of anglers using Standard Position Services (SPS).

About Google Science Fair

Google Science Fair is an online science and technology competition for teenagers for teenagers sponsored by Google, Lego, National Geographic, Virgin Galactic and Scientific American. This competition is open to 13-18 year old students from around the world, who give their ideas, perform experiments and present the outcome. The winner of this online competition gets a $50,000 scholarship and various other prizes to the three finalists.
