A large number of aspirants dream of getting into a premier B-school. However, it is not a cakewalk. The good news for such aspirants is that they can have their cancelled scores in Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) restored within a 60-day window. The setback before was, despite of being eligible for admission in a particular university, students had to retake the test by paying fees all over again. Initially, a gap of 30 days was the norm before the candidate could re-appear for the test after cancelling the previous one. The Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC) that governs conducts  GMAT has initiated more changes making the test student-friendly.

Not just this, if the candidates want to know mistakes they have committed can check on the Enhanced Score Report (ESR). The ESR will provide an overall breakup of sections, giving a complete insight of what went wrong. This will also help aspirants know their weaknesses and hence will be able to prepare well, if planning to re-take the test.

Earlier, the approach taken proved to be very efficacious for the students. The reason behind this was that when a student decided to re-take a test, this change was mentioned in the final report that the student took to the B-schools for admission. This report created a negative effect; therefore, the council dropped this approach and introduced a new one, which is more effective.

This approach will help students confidently re-take a test without creating a negative impact on the business schools. It is a welcome change by GMAC; however, we still need to see how effectively it will work.
