Glory of NIT, Patna toppers on the Convocation Day

On the auspicious of their convocation day on September 29, 2013, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Patna had invited former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam as Chief Guest to reward and honour the students.

In the convocation day Mr. Kalam gave the medals to the students. Expressing their feeling students said that it was a dream come true to have Mr Kalam on the day of their convocation.

Most of the students from the list who were given convocation belong to very poor families. Their parents could barely afford the college fees but now all are placed in good companies with high packages. Their hard labour and dedication pays. Now their parents proud them and came along with to attend the event.

On the convocation day guest were delivered their valuable speeches related to academic career, institutes academic activities, improvement of communication skills etc. NIT, Patna Director Prof Ashok De said that British Council had been encaged for the improvement of student’s communication skill.

Mr. Ashok also highlighted on the efforts taken by the institute in terms of placement. NIT, Patna is famous for giving 100% placement for the students. He nodded that between 2012-13, about 35 reputed companies visited the campus and offered more than 200 jobs to undergraduates.

NIT-P Chaiman, Manas Bihari Verm also spoke about to the plans taken to expand the academic and research activities in the institute. He also added that institute will also introduce some new Post Graduate, Ph. D and Research programme very shortly. Apart from collaborative research and development efforts in few selected areas, a few courses in design such as sustainable energy source based low cost housing, modular micro pumping system, for irrigation using natural resources etc. He believes it would impact rural economy and sustain growth rate.
