In order to keep up with technological advances, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has introduced online counselling for students seeking admission in B.Tech and BBA courses.
The B.Tech and BBA programmes are popular courses with around 6,500 seats and 5,400 seats respectively, says DK Bandyopadhyay, vice-chancellor , GGSIPU.
He says the counselling is being offered online to make admission process convenient for students and reduce the possiblity of human error, reports a leading daily.
The counselling will most probably begin in the first week of June.
The university is introducing this system on an experimental basis and will be extended to other courses if it turns out to be successful for B.Tech and BBA programmes.
Meanwhile, the university has decided to replace the personal interview round for MBA admissions with Common Entrance Test (CET).
Last year, the personal interview round turned out to be time consuming. Therefore, the university decided to enroll students this year purely on the basis of the entrance test result.
