Gauhati University Ph.D. Programme for 2012: Admission Notification

Gauhati University in Assam was established by an act of the State Legislature, namely, the Gauhati University Act 1947 (Assam Act, XVI of 1947), of the Government of Assam in the year 1948. The University is funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Government of Assam.

Besides this, various agencies of the Central and State Government provide various grants and assistance for Research and other academic activities. The University is in its 58th year existence and is the oldest, largest, and a premier seat of higher education in the north eastern region of India.

Programmes Offered

Ph.D. programmes in all academic departments/ institutes of G.U.
 
Eligibility Criteria

Masters Degree in the relevant area with minimum 55% of marks in Master Degree (relaxation of 5% marks in case the candidate belongs to SC/ST/OBC)

Application Procedure

Students have to deposit a fees of Rs. 200/- (two hundred) only in the concerned departments/ institutes. The selected candidates will have to apply in prescribed application form obtainable from the academic section of the G.U. on payment of the above fees, for admission into the Ph.D. Programme, 2012.

Important Dates:

Last date of application – 30 November, 2011
Entrance exam - within 21 December, 2011
