The first and second session of the first day of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) was successfully conducted today, i.e. February 4, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 12 Noon and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The first session was for the Mechanical Engineering (ME), Textile Engineering and Fibre Science (TF) and Architecture and Planning (AR) students. The second session was for Mechanical Engineering (since the number of students was very high), Agricultural Engineering (AG) and Geology and Geophysics (GG).
GATE 2022 is a national-level examination held by the seven IITs and IISc Bangalore, for admissions to postgraduate programs in higher educational institutions in India. The examination tests complete understanding of various undergraduate subjects in science and engineering.
The paper’s difficulty level turned out to be ‘easy to moderate’ as compared to that of last year. The exam pattern was stable and pretty similar to last year's paper.

GATE 2022 Exam Analysis:
General Aptitude -
- This section has a 'Moderate' difficulty level.
- The English section was tweaked and asked in a very different way.
- Most of the students found the English section tough.
Technical Section -
The technical section had a difficulty level of 'Easy to Moderate.'
Mechanical Engineering (ME) –
- Most of the questions were asked from Strength of material, Fluid Mechanics, Vibration, Median & design.
- As a rarity, one question was asked from Production.
- Maximum questions were on the basis of direct concepts.
- Few questions were asked from the new syllabus.
- The paper was easy for the candidates who were well prepared for GATE 2022.
Architecture and Planning (AR) –
- There were some complicated questions which required time.
- There were a few questions asked from the new syllabus.
- Overall, the difficulty level was moderate.
Textile Engineering and Fibre Science (TF) –

GATE 2022 Exam Pattern:
There are a total of 23 GATE papers and all the papers consist of 65 questions carrying a total of 100 marks. It is a three-hour computer-based examination, consisting of both numerical type and objective type questions (MCQ).
A candidate is allowed to write only one GATE paper. Therefore, they must have chosen the subject code very carefully at the time of filling the application form.
The GATE exam 2022 will be conducted on February 4, 5, 11 and 12, 2022, at various centres across the country.
GATE 2022 Result:
The GATE 2022 result will be announced on March 27, 2022, at 5 PM. It will be available on the official website of GATE. Candidates must note that the GATE 2022 score is valid for three years from the date of declaration of results.
GATE 2022 result can be available on payment basis to educational institutions, R&D laboratories, industries etc. across India and abroad through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IIT Roorkee and the organisation intending to use the GATE score.
Once the GATE 2022 result is declared, candidates can download the GATE 2022 result between March 27 and May 26, 2022, from the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) on the official website. If a candidate wishes to get a soft copy of the score card, he/she can do so by paying INR 500 on the GOAPS portal.

GATE 2022 Expected Cut-Off:
The GATE 2022 cut-off is expected to be released soon after the results are announced.
