Continuing with the drive to development of IIT’s across the country, Mr. Kapil Sibal, the HRD minister of the Central government laid the foundation stone for the premiere institute. The premier technology institute is coming up on 500 acres of land near Bihta, about 30 km from Patna. Since August 2008, IIT-Patna has been running at a temporary polytechnic campus.
Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar was also present at the occasion and said that the state government had handed over 463 acres of acquired land to IIT last year. He formally handed the papers for the 500 acres of land to IIT-Patna director Anil K. Bhowmick in the ocassion.
Bhowmick said the campus was being designed by the Kolkata-based Development Architect Private Ltd.
