Finance Conclave 2013 at Jaipuria Institute of Management

Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore organized a finance conclave on September 21, 2013.

Honorable guest were giving speech on Current depreciation status of the market, Rupee Volatility on Balance of Power Guests etc. Invited guests were:
• Mr. V Sriram, Senior General Manager SIDBI

• Mr. Vivek Singh Kushwaha, Director IPS Academy and IBMR, Indore

• Mr. Navy Ramavat, MD Indira Securities, Indore

• Mr. Anukul Bhatnagar, DGM (Business and Operations) SBI, Indore

The session began by the addressing of Dr. JP Upadhyay stressing on two points “Rupee not gaining its strength and is rolling down” and “Current depreciation status of the market”. It was further addressed by our delegates after the introduction of Conclave by Prof. Kalyani Parmal.

Mr. Vivek Singh Kushwaha showcased his wisdom regarding the impact of Rupee volatility on BOP (Balance of Payments). He stressed on the scenario of current account deficit, capital accounts, FDIs, Joint Ventures and other finances.

Gave his speech on “What sort of turbulence it is? What is the trigger? What’s really happening”? Mr. V. Sriram said that Rupee volatility creates an impact on Bond Market, Money Market.

He quoted “Never try to forecast the market, but try to understand the exposure”. He asked an individual to be responsible for his/her money. He suggested students to read “FIMMDA”, the Bible for the students who want to make their career in Money Market. He gave his speech on financial market integration and asked students to make their projects on returns of FDI over a period of 10 years t6o have a better understanding.

Mr. Navy Ramavat stated “Don’t Panic! India’s growth story is intact.”
Spoke on the issues like reasons for weakening Rupee, growth spoiling, ways to reduce Current Account deficit, Factors affecting Rupee, Evolution of dollar as a world currency, Reforms, The Domino effect and Quantitative Easing.
He suggested students to start investing from this age and the amount invested doesn’t matter. He made students aware about the career opportunities in the field of capitalization.

Mr. Anukul Bhatnagar shared examples and experiences from his personal life. He quoted “We need people who can think” and thus emphasized on connectivity, awareness, communication, technology and recent trends in Banking and rural empowerment.

He also talked about employment areas in the country and changes faced by the economy. He suggested future managers to have a dream become an entrepreneur and try to remain in the top notch among the competitors.

Students flagged questions:

• On saying that our expected current account deficit is 3.7% of GDP, Abhshek Tiwari, Senior student of Jaipuria asked to Mr. V Sriram if it was achievable.

• Viji Nair, a student from IMS, Indore asked “Why the capital flight is happening only with India?”

The conclave also had a poster making competition and after the guest session was over, the winners for the poster making contest were declared. Sayanta Banerjee from the batch 2012-14 won the first prize and Prajakta Patil from the same batch became the First runner up.

The event was concluded by Prof. J.K. Mishra extending vote of thanks to the guests and speakers, followed by a small memento as a token of love and respect on behalf of Jaipuria Institute of Management.
