An English Breakfast

Contrary to what the title may suggest, I am not referring to the disgraceful performance put in by the English football team. Nor am I talking about the hopes that our nation’s cricket fanatics have from the upcoming cricket series between India and England.

I am actually thinking about the course my life is going to take, now that I am officially an English honors student at Lady Sri Ram College.  To say that I am excited is going to be an understatement. I am literally hopping up and down since I got back hope after paying my fee. The feeling is so surreal. I am finally out of that ‘I belong to nowhere’ zone I had been in ever since school got over. I belong to LSR now.

And I belong to English. I am actually going to get a degree for doing what I like best-reading. Except of course the exams and all, but that can be figured out later…

I am going to be living and breathing the language from now on. My thrill knows no bounds.

Right now, after seeing the first semester course load, I am on cloud nine. I am seriously very happy. They have Pride and Prejudice as the first required reading. Que for applause. That’s my favorite book in forever!

I am having this feeling that I am going to deeply and unquestioningly love my studies from now on. Amen to that.
