In the midst of protests against the central government’s decision of creating a separate state – Telengana out of Andhra Pradesh, students are amongst the worst hit in the state. Not only are the public services at a standstill, but important career decisions of students are being affected as well. For instance, while the EAMCET counseling for Medical admissions were successfully conducted across the state, the EAMCET engineering counseling seems to have seems to be stuck in a loophole.
The EAMCET counseling was supposed to start from June 20 which was later postponed to the 1st week of July, 2013. With engineering admission closing deadline drawing to a close, students are compelling the authorities to finish with the EAMCET engineering counseling 2013. Giving in to the increased demand, the EAMCET 2013 engineering counseling will start from August 19 and will continue till September 1, 2013.
What makes it more complicated is the fact that many EAMCET aspirants are involved in the disruption caused in Andhra Pradesh. The end result being that students are now resorting to alternative counseling centres to ensure that they get admission to engineering colleges in 2013.
As of now, most colleges are shut in Andhra Pradesh and there have been reports that students of Osmania University were lathi-charged by those who want a separate state of Telengana.
