On the eve of Dussehra, Ravana's effigy was made in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi . And a play was also performed in Nalanda grounds on October 13, 2013. College witnessed a hug gathering which came to have a look of this amazing play between Rama and Ravana. After that Rama burnt the effigy of Ravana and the ceremony was ended.

Dussehra, also called as Vijayadashami, marks the end of nine-day long festival navaratri and beginning of winter.

Dussehra is derived from Sanskrit word "Dasha-hara" which means the removal of ten bad qualities. Though the festival is observed to mainly to celebrate Lord Ram's victory over Ravana, it also marks the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasur.

Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi is one of the pioneer institutions in terms of providing technical education.

The admission to these programs is done through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) which is organized by all the seven Indian Institutes of Technology jointly. Lakhs of students take this exam every year with only few thousands of them actually crossing the bridge.
