DU’s 4-Year Undergraduate Programme Getting Thumbs Up From Students, claims Vice Chancellor

Delhi University vice chancellor Dinesh Singh has claimed that the four-year undergraduate programme, which has received a lot of criticism from various quarters, is getting a good response from students.

While talking to reporters, he said the university recently organized a detailed presentation cum interaction session about the programme for thousands of students who were asked to fill a feedback form later on, reports a leading daily.

Out of around 3000 12th standard students, 90 percent expressed their liking for the course, Singh added.

According to a press release by DU, these students have admitted that they have under stood the programme and also feel that it would be good for them in future.

While defending the four-year undergraduate programme, the vice chancellor also read out a statement signed by 43 principals of DU colleges, reports a leading daily.

"We, who represent the colleges of Delhi University, wish to state that we are well prepared for the four-year undergraduate programme. We take objection to the opinions and needless interference of those who are superficially acquainted with the process and activities of the university," the statement said.

Another statement signed by faculty members from various departments said, "We strongly urge our misguided colleagues to refrain from demoralising the prospective students with misleading propaganda and from harming the image of the university."
